This site invites volunteers to help transcribe many available Open Educational Resources (OER) video lectures into English. The OERs included in this site are from MIT OCW** and many other insitutions. You don't need to be able to speak Chinese to help. Everyone who can understand and type English is encouraged to participate. What do I do?As a volunteer-based project, we ask you to adopt the file(s) you wish to transcribe. Here is a list of courses containing video lectures. Browse through the list and select the ones you think you would enjoy. Once you have located the lecture(s) you wish to transcribe, simply click on the "Edit" link on the top right-hand side of the page (you may have to scroll your screen to the top to see the link) and add your name and email to the corresponding cell. That is it. Once you have finished transcribing, come back to this site and copy and paste the text into a placeholder that will have been setup for you. Let us hear from youPlease email grace.mf.lin (@) gmail (dot) com for any additional questions, remarks or suggestions you may have about this project.
*Opensource Opencourseware Prototype System (OOPS) is a grass roots effort to localize MIT's OCW into Chinese. Please visit the OOPS project web site: http://www.myoops.org/twocw for traditional Chinese, and http://www.myoops.org/cocw for simplified Chinese. That is, if you read Chinese. **OpenCourseWare materials are licensed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under a Creative Commons License. More details here.
